Road trip to Nelspruit | March 1, 2018

On the odd occasion, life gives you a surprise break. I delivered artwork out of town and was treated to an overnight stay in picturesque Nelspruit, on a private game reserve. As an overzealous photo-snapper, I was spoilt for choice as I was enveloped by nature and her beautiful offerings.

After wandering around and snapping tons of photos, I got to spend the evening with a fantastically welcoming family. Great food, wine (perhaps, a little too much?!) and intimate conversation shared in front of a warming fire.

As most of my artwork derives from photos I’ve taken on my travels, when I got back to my studio, I excitedly began working with them. Finally, settling on a little aloe, toad tree seeds and acres of acacias. I approached each of these three works using the same colour palette and process. It was something I’d never tried before, but really enjoyed. I was impressed with the completed work.

Thank you, Nelspruit and Dana for the treat. These three works are available at the White River Art Gallery.

Join us on Saturday 3 March from 12pm at the White River Gallery to view these three works. Click the below image to view the invite.
